So, you probably have been one of the numerous folks that have made a New Year’s resolution, right? Well, if you are like myself, it was a colossal fail. I have learned from my failure to not make a resolution, ever, ever again. However, why not make one that is super easy and you can keep? Flossing is a perfect New Year’s resolution. Don’t laugh. I’m serious.
Most people end up making exercise or weight loss resolutions that tend to fall by the wayside (I joined a gym for a two-year commitment. I went once). So, instead of making promises to yourself that could be hard and frustrating or your will power isn’t sufficient enough to follow through, start with something super duper easy. Flossing is one of those easy things. I know, I know, you don’t have time to do it. Your gums bleed…blah blah blah. C’mon. Everyone has time to do it. It will take a minute of your day, legit. And once you get in the habit of doing it, you won’t think anything of it at all. It will just be another part of your routine. Think about all the time you spend on other things that aren’t a necessity. Flossing should be a necessity. It will keep your teeth and gums healthy and you’ll be glad when you come out from your dental visit with a gold star.
If you want to make a bigger commitment to a New Year’s resolution, good for you! I’m totally impressed when people have dedication to the betterment of themselves. But, if you are one of those that like to do a resolution for the heck of it and then if you do it, great, if not, whatever… just try this one easy dental suggestion that you could follow through with. Truly, flossing is a great thing for your health; not just your mouth but for the rest of your body too by stirring up those germs and sending them down the drain. Just give it a try, I promise you won’t hate me for it and try to stick with it! Then you won’t have to fib when your hygienists asks you how often you floss (they can tell, you know).
Oh, and brush a couple times a day too please. I know, I’m demanding.
